Grants for Low Income Families
There are federal grants for low income families as well as local government grants for low income families. There are many purposes for these grants and many different qualifications such as grants for rural low income families. So if you are a low income family and fear you will be stuck in this rut for the rest of your life, stop thinking that and get looking into the funds that are available that can help you rise above your circumstances. Grants can provide a wealth of opportunities.
Education. There are federal, state and private funding sources standing ready to provide tuition monies. Since on average a college graduate will earn anywhere from $300,000 to a million dollars more in their lifetime, a college education is certainly one of the most lucrative investments you can make in yourself. Further consider the extra $20,000 to $50,000 or more per year that an advanced degree holder can reap and it is not difficult to see this is one of the first grants you should like into. If a university is not for you, you could also consider a trade school.
Housing. Although a grant for housing will not increase your income, it will help you stop throwing money away on renting. Programs through FHA and HUD will help you get your own home.
Business. The Small Business Administration (SBA) can provide you information about available programs to help you start your own business. Most of these are in the form of loans, but with a good business plan and hard work, your new business should cover the loan payments and bring you a nice profit.
Other. While not a long term solution, programs such as food stamps, home heating funds, welfare cash payments, and health programs may be the shot in the arm you need to stretch your current income to cover the cost of an educational program that will help your future earning capacity.
Sometimes you can improve your situation in the company you are currently employed by being open to new opportunities. Learn new duties, be the “go to” person in your department, read up on promotion qualifications to see if you should be considered or what you still need to do to qualify.
One of the most important things to consider when you’ve decided you are not earning what you need is to change your thinking. Don’t be a victim of current economic times. Instead, create a plan and be determined to get what you want.
America is not called the “Land of Opportunity” for no reason, go find your opportunity!
