Free Pell Grants for Felons

There are people who don’t believe that felons should have a second chance at life and that free pell grants for felons are a ridiculous idea. But for those who have had prior felony convictions and who have paid their debt to society, going to college could be their only chance to being able to get a decent job and become a hardworking member of society.

First, you have to go to the right website – the FAFSA one, and fill out the proper form online. This is going to ask you the information about assets and income, as well as if you’ve been convicted of selling or possessing drugs that are illegal.

Second, make sure that you’re not counting any convictions that are no longer on your record when you are answering the drug conviction question. If a conviction of drug sale or possession is still on your record, you’ll need to complete a program for drug rehabilitation before you are able to get one of the free pell grants.

Finally, you want to take note of your SAR once you have submitted your application. This is going to summarize all of your submitted information.

A lot of people think that it’s wrong for felons to get free pell grants. But when a convicted felon is rehabilitated and they are trying to become a productive member of society, they are going to need all the help they can get to stay out of the lifestyle that they were in before. A lot of felons turn to the life of crime out of desperation. With better prospects and a good job in the future, they are going to feel better about themselves and find that there  are alternatives to a life of crime.
